Two Things...

by Watson M. Pillow

Two things that have been on my mind this week:

  1. How do I view my prayer life?

This quote comes from Oswald Chambers. He says to think of the last thing you prayed about. Were you devoted to your desire or to God? Was your determination to get some gift of His Spirit for yourself or to get God?

Matthew 6-8 says God knows the things you need before you ask Him. The reason for asking is so you may get to know God better. Our prayers should lead us to a better understanding of God Himself.

    Just something to think about.
  1. What does the Bible say and teach us as we get older?

That’s a pretty broad one. And how does our church view our older people?

Two great examples of God using older people are Caleb (who is one of my Heroes) 85 and Moses 80.

After reading numerous verses about older men and women you get a lot of different thoughts. One thing is clear: we never are to spiritually retire. It’s our responsibility and pleasure to love and serve Him until we join Him.

How does the church view our older men and women? Maybe we can get some responses to that. Or better yet, ask some of your older people how they feel about this.
