French Camp Academy

Westminster’s Mission of the Month for October is French Camp Academy. If you aren’t yet familiar with this ministry, it is located less than an hour from Greenwood. French Camp Academy, or “FCA,” is a Christ-centered home and school that exists to serve young people and families for the glory of God.

In 1885, a group of Presbyterian ministers established a school for girls in French Camp, MS called The Mississippi Institute for Girls. Because of its success, a school for boys was started later that year called French Camp Academy. In 1915, a fire destroyed the girls’ institute, and so the schools were combined under the name “French Camp Academy.”

In 1950, the school was reorganized under a non-denominational board of trustees. At present, FCA can accommodate up to 170 boarding students. These students come from all walks of life, but often struggle with difficulties in their home of school lives. However, some students simply come from a home with parents who want their children to attend a Christian school that will lay a firm foundation for successful living.

What better way to understand a place than to hear the personal testimony of someone who is a product of that environment. Click below to see the video of Angela Morgan, a former FCA student who is now a house parent at the school.

Please pray for the ministry of French Camp Academy, for their board and administrators, teachers and staff, and house parents and volunteers, along with the students that have found themselves at this school.

Also, mark your calendars for the annual French Camp Harvest Festival to be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 7am to 5pm. You will find music, horse and carriage rides, crafts, sorghum making, food and more. If you want to go and get a closer look at French Camp, this is a great event for the family!
