An Unplugged Christmas

1

unplugged christmasAs temperatures are soaring near and above 100 degrees, it’s difficult to imagine that the Christmas season is just around the corner. Yet the time has come once again for the Children’s Ministries team to begin preparations for this year’s Christmas program.

In this year’s program, “An Unplugged Christmas,” you can expect to see some real “acting” and hear some debut solos from a few members of our Westminster Children’s choir. The music will include a few new songs, as well as several classic carols that you are sure to enjoy. The children are preparing to put on “the biggest, brightest Christmas show ever,” complete with a “Silent Night Light Show.” However, as plans go awry, they are reminded that “Jesus is the true light of Christmas.”

While we are thrilled with the prospect of presenting a more challenging program this year, we realize that it will require a lot more hands on deck (or stage) to ensure a successful performance. Anyone who would like to help out with building our “set,” props, costumes, acting, music, or anything else, please get in touch with Ellen Hey or Angela Hammons. There is no volunteer role that is too small, so please join us!

Rehearsals for “ An Unplugged Christmas” will be on Wednesday nights at 6:15 p.m. beginning Wednesday, September 2nd. We would like to invite and encourage all children from 4K through 6th grade to join us on Wednesday nights and be a part of this exciting event.

Scripture tells us in Psalm 127:3 that children are a heritage from the Lord. They belong to Him; He has a purpose for each one of them, and we have the privilege of being entrusted with providing to them protection, guidance, and stewardship. Our goal and prayer for our children’s ministry year round is to provide a fun, spiritual, and educational experience for our children in which to help them grow in their walk and relationship with Christ as their Savior, and especially at Christmas, to help them remember that Jesus really is the Reason for the Season!

“An Unplugged Christmas” will be presented on Wednesday, December 9th at 6:00 p.m. with refreshments to follow. Please mark your calendars! We hope to see you there!

God’s blessings and “Merry Christmas” to you all!
